NAD+ Explained: What It Is and Why People Book It

NAD+ is the most-asked-about drip on our menu. Here is what the coenzyme does in the body, why levels change with age, and what an NAD+ session at The DRIPBaR involves.

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide — NAD+ — is a coenzyme found in every living cell. It is involved in turning the food you eat into cellular energy and in the repair processes cells run on themselves. It is also the drip clients ask about most, so it deserves a proper explanation.

What NAD+ does

Think of NAD+ as a shuttle. It moves electrons around inside the cell so mitochondria can produce energy, and it is a required ingredient for enzymes that maintain and repair DNA. Levels of NAD+ naturally decline with age and can dip further with stress, poor sleep and heavy training.

Researchers are actively studying NAD+ across a range of areas. What is well established is the biology above: it is central to cellular energy production and repair.

Why people book it

Clients tell us they come in for NAD+ with goals like:

  • Supporting mental clarity and focus during demanding stretches
  • Supporting energy through a heavy travel or training period
  • A longer-term wellness routine as part of healthy ageing
  • Support alongside a broader recovery plan they have discussed with their own clinician

NAD+ is a wellness service designed to support these goals. It is not a treatment for any condition, and it is not a replacement for medical care.

What a session involves

NAD+ is delivered more slowly than a standard vitamin drip. Sessions typically run 2 to 4 hours depending on the dose, and your nurse controls the rate so you stay comfortable. Some clients feel a temporary flushing or tightness in the chest or stomach during the infusion; slowing the drip usually settles it, and your nurse checks in throughout.

Doses at The DRIPBaR are offered in tiers — most lounges list 250 mg, 500 mg and higher — and your nurse will help you choose a starting point. Many clients begin lower and build up over a series.

Pairing NAD+ with other drips

NAD+ is often booked as a series and frequently paired with a hydration or vitamin drip on the same visit. Glutathione and B12 are common add-ons. Ask your lounge what they recommend for your goal.

Before you book

  • Plan for the time: bring a laptop or a book.
  • Eat something beforehand.
  • Tell your nurse about any medications and conditions during your screening.
